Hi! It’s me, Ty!
If you know my Mom, you know she loves to research anything & everything! Over the past 10 years, since I was just a peanut in her tummy, she’s been researching this, that & the other; but as I have been getting older she has been researching and learning more about STRESS. So I’m going to let Mom share with you how her most recent research and friendship is changing her and how she handles her stress.

STRESS
There it is…staring you in the face…AGAIN! Ugh. It just never seems to go away, not even the slightest bit!
Breathe…numerous articles will tell you.
Take a time out…other articles will suggest.
Set aside more “me time”…is the advice several web sites give out.
Try adding a supplement into your diet; sit in the sunlight, you need more Vitamin D ; think happy thoughts.
Yada, yada, yada…
If you scour the web like I do, in a fevered search for anything that will help you tackle the stress chances are you’ve read these types of articles, or heard it from your doctor or girlfriend. For 10 years I have tried each and every one of these techniques and then some to see my stress level increase with each of Ty’s birthdays. It’s incredibly frustrating to be going around and around in circles like this for 10 years, now I know how a hamster on a wheel feels. My husband would probably like me to point out that I am by nature, a major worry-wart (thanks for passing that down, Grandma). My worry-wart-isms have gotten so debilitating over the past few years I worry about the tiniest things that 10 years prior to now I wouldn’t have batted an eye.
But, I suppose getting a call from the school being told not to worry, they found your child unharmed, accidentally locked inside a metal storage container; or having a teacher ask what his life expectancy will be and was sending him to school really time well spent; or how about watching your kid’s heart stop…twice. Yeah, that’ll fray your nerves a bit.
Maybe I’m an isolated case, but on the off-chance that I’m not I’m going to share a new (to me) way of handling stress; because if you are anything like me you think you can handle anything life throws at you. Right!?!? Why the hell, not? You’ve never been given any reason you can’t handle everything you and everyone else is piling onto your plate. But then you come running head on into a brick wall, and BOOM! You’re down. You’re down hard. The plate you were carrying that was piled so high with all of your stuff and your family’s stuff…it’s flying through the air. Will you catch it in time? Of course you will! You’re a Mom and a Super Mom at that! What are you going to do to make sure you run fast enough to catch it???
Breathe?
Pffft…you can try that.
Or you can look into something way off the radar, well my radar at least;
Energy Medicine
Tara Beck of Energy Passage here in Dallas, Texas took some time out of her busy day to share some techniques with me to reduce my stress and help Ty focus more while in public places…hopefully these techniques can help you as much as they’ve helped me so far!
Tara is also an AMAZING PARENT…her son stopped developing at a very early age. The doctors had given up figuring out WHY and were recommending every therapy in the book. But when Tara looked into her son’s eyes she saw the intelligence, the glimmer of life that was her son still in there. Her fevered search led her to Energy Medicine and helped her bring her son back who is thriving now years later.
You can find out more about what Tara does at www.energypassage.com or send her an email tara@energypassage.com or give her a call out of the blue like I did (972)767-9642
Energy Medicine is “…the science and the art of optimizing your energies to help your body and mind function at their best…” (courtesy Donna Eden of Eden Energy Medicine www.innersource.net).
Tara, certified in Energy Medicine, could tell within minutes of meeting me I handle my stress by producing a rush of adrenaline. She pointed out that even the smallest stresses, like the honk of a car horn in traffic; can make your body have the same reaction and for me that’s a rush of adrenaline. She said chances are my adrenal glands are shriveled up because of this and gave me some techniques to boost my energy level, help me cope with stress in a more manageable fashion, get more sleep and to keep CALM.
*Please note I am sharing with you techniques Tara Beck, someone certified in Energy Medicine gave to me, it may not be for you and I certainly cannot guarantee you will have the same results I have had*
#1. Triple Warmer Neurovascular Sedation (or in my words, help you sleep like a rock)
a. make a V out of your index, middle finger & thumb and place them in the V of your throat right above your collarbone.
b. lay your other hand flat across the side of your face with your fingers flat on your temples.
c. take 5 deep & slow breaths, switch and repeat on the other side.
(courtesy Tara Beck www.energypassage.com)
#2. The CALM Effect (yes your arms will fall asleep, but this exercise has helped me the most)
a. put one hand on your forehead & your other hand on the back of your head and press slightly for 3-5 minutes.
b. repeat every day to shift how your body handles stress…change your chemistry.

The rest of the exercises Tara suggested I try are in the video below from Donna Eden of www.innersource.net called the “5 Minute Energy Routine”.
Tara also gave me some techniques to try with Ty in public places. I shared with her my biggest stress with having a child with Down syndrome is when we’re in public…he acts before he thinks sometimes which puts my nerves on constant ALERT! She explained to me that everyone has life colors and their colors are dependent upon what has happened in their life up to that time. Studies in Energy Medicine have shown people with Down syndrome tend to have crystal as their life color which means they have mirror-type personalities. People who are crystals have a healing presence and are a direct reflection of others around them. *I picked up my jaw here, by the way…she just described my son without ever meeting him. Whoa* So in public crystals (like Ty) take in all of the other life colors and do what they do, feel what they feel, etc… Hence the sense of being overwhelmed.
Tara suggested to use
THE CROSS CRAWL
ZIP UPS
HOOK UPS (which Tara also used to help with her son’s absence seizures, Ty has these sometimes as well)
The three above techniques are also in the video below from Donna Eden at Innersource.net
HUGE THANK YOU to Tara Beck of EnergyPassage.com…you’ve helped me so much in the short time I’ve known you, thank you for sharing on my blog today!

It’s so funny that we can walk across the carpet and shock ourselves or run inside to avoid lightning knowing we’re electrical conduits. Yet, when we think of our bodies as energy fields, we just sort of zone out, freak out, or want to bail out. I think it’s foreign to our culture, and for those of us like me, who are Christians, I don’t want to wander into something that’s “spiritual,” etc. since some marry their spiritual beliefs, meditations, yada yada with the energy info. At any rate, thanks for the tips. I’m sure you already know, but the essential oils (at least the therapeutic grade) can help change your frequency and all have frequencies of their own. Freaky, but at the same time… VERY cool how God is at the center of all this scientific amazement!

Thanks for your thoughts, Ruth! I didn’t know that about the oils, very good to know!
